Founded in 1989 by Don Reed, Micro-Scale Models designs, manufactures, packages and sells Scale Railroad Structure Kits and Custom Built Models. Today, as in 1989, Micro-Scale Models manufactures almost every component for each new kit. All the wooden pieces are cut to size by Micro-Scale Models using precise laser cutters that are made in the USA. All plaster detail parts are designed and manufactured by Micro-Scale Models. To source parts that Micro-Scale doesn’t manufacture we rely on a select group of manufacturers to supply top quality parts. One such manufacturer is Tichy Train Group (TTG). TTG supplies windows, doors and other vacuum-formed and injection molded plastic parts for Micro-Scale Models kits.
Quality has always been and continues to be a cornerstone of our business. Before a new kit is released, it is built numerous times to ensure that everything fits correctly and the instructions are accurate. Packaging is checked and re-checked. In 30 years you can count on one hand (with fingers left over) the number of boxes that have left our doors that have been missing even just one shingle.
After 30 years and over 130 different kits, Micro-Scale Models continues to design and manufacture new kits for hobbyists young and old.
